Presented by Liquor.com and sponsored by Rémy Cointreau USA, Inc., the 2017 Cointreau Mixologist Challenge invites bartenders from across the Midwest to create unique, artful Cointreau-inspired cocktails that showcase the complex and balanced flavors for which the French liqueur is famous. Local bartenders enter by submitting their original Cointreau cocktail recipe via the online site (cointreau.liquor.com) hosted by Liquor.com. Semi-Finalists will be selected from among the online entries to compete at local events for a chance to advance to the Finals in Chicago, where One Grand Prize winner will be selected to win $5,000 and will be featured in his/her own Mixology Video! (Total prize value = $10,000)
The contest is open to working bartenders who are 25 years of age or older, and are legal residents of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, or Wisconsin. Interested bartenders will register and submit their recipe online via the online entry site cointreau.liquor.com, between April 24, 2017 and June 15, 2017.
Throughout all selection & judging stages of the 2017 Cointreau Mixologist Challenge, recipes will be judged based on the interpretation of the recipe cocktail, creativity, and background story. In some cases, judges may recreate the cocktails to settle closely ranked submissions. Judges will not take into consideration current employer, time spent bartending or any other personal information in the selection of Regional semi-finalists.
